The atmosphere at the Ikosi-Isheri Council Secretariat was filled with pride, celebration, and gratitude as the Mayoress, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, hosted the Grand Finale of the Week-Long Projects Commissioning & Empowerment Program on Tuesday.

The event marked the culmination of a historic week that saw the commissioning of over 20 transformational projects across the LCDA, alongside the empowerment of more than 500 residents with business tools and start-up resources under the visionary leadership of the Mayoress.

In her address, Princess Samiat Bada emphasized that the event was not just an end, but a launchpad for a greater Ikosi-Isheri. “This moment is proof that when the people and their leaders work hand in hand, no dream is too big,” she said. “What you see today is not just infrastructure; it is the product of trust, perseverance, and shared resolve.”

Among the numerous completed projects were vital road rehabilitations, drainage constructions, new government facilities, and a state-of-the-art Area Office Complex. Residents now benefit from upgraded streets such as Kayode Falowo, Mutairu, Oba Onikosi Drives (Phases I & II), and many others, with projects spanning from schools to markets and even a Legislative Building.

A major highlight was the Mayoress’s announcement of an upcoming landmark project the commissioning of the biggest Primary Healthcare Centre in Nigeria, right in Ikosi-Isheri. “It will redefine grassroots healthcare delivery in Lagos and beyond,” she said.

In addition to infrastructure, human capital development took center stage. Over 500 residents were empowered with items including tricycles, sewing and grinding machines, barbing kits, popcorn makers, POS machines with capital, and more tools aimed at fostering independence and sustainable income generation.

“This is what real empowerment looks like,” the Mayoress stated. “We are not giving handouts we are building lives.”

Princess Bada concluded the event by thanking the community for their trust and support. She reaffirmed her commitment to continue the journey of transformation and inclusive development, stating, “If given another opportunity to serve Insha Allah, I promise not to let you down.”

The event also drew commendations from dignitaries, including Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. “This is what we mean when we talk about women in leadership delivering results. This week alone has shown the capacity of a woman to govern, empower, and transform communities,” she said.

One of the beneficiaries, Oyewole Ayobami, shared her gratitude, calling the empowerment “a financial relief” and urging fellow beneficiaries to value and utilize the tools rather than sell them. “This is a memory and a source of income that will grow over time,” he added.

As Ikosi-Isheri celebrates the milestones achieved in one week, its people now look forward with renewed hope and belief in a brighter, more prosperous future.
