POLICE BEGIN PROBE AS 45-YEAR-OLD MAN STABBED TO DEATH IN GOMBE

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu, following an attack allegedly carried out by unidentified individuals in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area on Sunday.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Gombe by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the incident was reported around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday by a relative of the deceased, Bashir Umar, who stated that the attack occurred earlier that morning at approximately 8:00 a.m.
“From the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was attacked with knives and had fatal injuries on the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi stated. “He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a doctor later confirmed him dead.”
Referring to the attack by the perpetrators as, “senseless and unwarranted”, the command stated that an intelligence led investigation has been launched to track down the suspects and arrest them.
The command urged residents to remain calm and assist in the investigation by volunteering any information that could aid in solving the case.
