The 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season is set to commence on Friday, August 22, according to HOTJIST.
NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, confirmed the date during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, noting that efforts are underway to align the league’s calendar with other major leagues around the world.
Fixtures and registration guidelines for players are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
Remo Stars claimed the league title for the 2024/25 season, with Rivers United finishing as runners-up.
Both clubs will fly Nigeria’s flag in the CAF Champions League, while third-placed Abia Warriors will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
