American R&B star Chris Brown on Friday pleaded not guilty in a London court to additional charges related to an alleged nightclub assault that occurred in February 2023.

Appearing at Southwark Crown Court, the 35-year-old singer entered pleas to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon specifically, a bottle during the incident.

Brown, who is currently on an international music tour, was granted £5.0 million ($6.7 million) bail. The court heard that he had spent nearly a week in custody in May before being released. As part of his bail conditions, he must return for all court proceedings or risk forfeiting the entire bail sum.

Despite the legal proceedings, the judge gave Brown clearance to continue his scheduled performances, which began on June 8 in Amsterdam.

The alleged assault took place at Tape, an exclusive members-only club in Hanover Square, London, during Brown’s UK tour. Prosecutors claim the victim was struck with a bottle and then chased, punched, and kicked.

In addition to the latest charges, Brown had earlier entered a not guilty plea to the more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

Co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, 39, also a U.S. national, appeared alongside Brown in the dock and similarly denied all charges, including the grievous bodily harm accusation.

The courtroom was packed with supporters, some shouting words of encouragement. Brown acknowledged them by blowing a kiss and waving after the hearing.

Both men are scheduled to stand trial in October 2026.
