The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a landlord and two others in connection with the kidnapping and gruesome murder of two undergraduates from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
The suspects include the landlord, Oladele Femi, and two accomplices Ojo Michael and Abdul Mohammed Mubarak who were allegedly involved in the abduction, robbery, rape, and killing of the victims: 25-year-old Abah Friday and 19-year-old Okah Eloho.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this on Wednesday in Akure while addressing journalists on the command’s recent achievements.
According to Lawal, the case came to light following a petition submitted on June 24, 2025, by G.O. Omoedu & Co. on behalf of Mr Emmanuel Peter, elder brother to one of the victims, who reported that Friday and Eloho had gone missing since June 20.
“Detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action and forensic tracking led investigators to Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos, where an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to Friday was recovered from Abdul Mohammed Mubarak,” Lawal stated.
Mubarak confessed to buying the phone from Ojo Michael, who was later arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti. At the point of arrest, the suspects were also in possession of the victims’ Lexus RX 350.
During interrogation, Michael admitted to taking part in the abduction, robbery, and murder, and revealed that the landlord, Oladele Femi, had masterminded the crime and contracted him and an accomplice identified as “Kola” (now at large) to execute it.
“Investigations revealed that the sum of ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Friday’s account while the victims were held captive,” Lawal revealed.
Michael further confessed to raping Eloho after she recognised him, and said both victims were killed to prevent them from identifying their attackers. Their bodies were disposed of separately between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti in Ekiti State.
“Acting on Michael’s confession, detectives recovered the body of Eloho in a bush near Ode-Ekiti. It has been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remains of Friday, believed to have been dumped in a river,” Lawal added.
The Police Commissioner described the incident as a heartbreaking case of betrayal and premeditated violence, assuring the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect and bring all perpetrators to justice.
He said the case underscores the need for vigilance and swift reporting of suspicious activity, adding that justice will be served for the slain students.
