ONDO STUDENTS CONDEMN RECURRING KILLINGS AT AAUA, DEMAND URGENT SECURITY ACTION

The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) has strongly condemned the rising wave of killings at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), describing the attacks as a direct threat to the academic stability, mental wellbeing, and future of students.
In a statement issued on Saturday and co-signed by NAOSS National President, Alade Tosin, and General Secretary, Agbeni Oluwatobi, the association called for immediate intervention from the Ondo State Government and relevant security agencies.
The condemnation follows a series of disturbing incidents at the university, including the recent murder of Joy Adeyemi, a student in the Department of Human Kinetics, allegedly killed by her boyfriend, who has since fled. Her death came less than a month after the abduction and murder of two other students, Andrel Okah and John Abba. While suspects were arrested in the latter case, the alleged mastermind reportedly died in police custody.
“These are not mere crimes; they are cold-blooded atrocities that must not be ignored,” the association said. “The blood of our students cries out for justice, and we shall not be silent.”
NAOSS outlined a series of demands, including:
The immediate identification and prosecution of all perpetrators;
Strengthening of security architecture within and around the university community;
Engagement with the host community leadership to ensure peaceful coexistence and enhanced protection for students.
The student body also appealed to traditional rulers, AAUA management, and security operatives to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
While urging students to remain calm and law-abiding, the statement affirmed NAOSS’s commitment to the safety and welfare of all students in Ondo State.
“Let it be known that NAOSS Global will continue to champion the welfare, safety, and rights of all Ondo State students,” the statement read. “We will not relent until every student’s life is treated with the dignity and protection it deserves.”
