IGP EGBETOKUN DECORATES 28 SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS, URGES INNOVATIVE POLICING APPROACHES

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday, July 28, 2025, decorated 12 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 16 Commissioners of Police (CPs) at a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The promotion and decoration ceremony, which witnessed an outpouring of cheers and celebrations from family, friends, and colleagues, is part of the IGP’s ongoing commitment to enhancing police welfare and professionalism. The promotions were approved by the Police Service Commission at the request of the IGP, marking what has been described as the highest number of promotions within the shortest period in the Force’s recent history.
Prominent among the newly decorated AIGs are Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, Enyinnaya Adiogu (fsi), Ronke Nurat Okunade (fsi), Johnson Oluwole Adenola, Hassan Audu Yabanet, Chinedu Oko, Aminu Baba Raji, Omolara Oloruntola, Akoh Benedict Gabriel, Tijani Ahmadu Abdullahi (rtd), Mohammed Usman, and Bretet Emmanuel.
The Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to Commissioners of Police include Sheik Mohammed Danko, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, Charles Dike, Victor Erivwode, Nnanna Oji Ama, Micheal Falade, Yakubu Dankaro, Gabriel Elaigwu, Emefile Tony Osifo (fsi), Umar Ahmed Chuso, Aina Adesola, Uduak Uta, Sylvester Edogbanya (fsi), Musa Muhammed Sani, Omoikhudu Philip, and Innocent Anagbado.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries including Senator Oyewunmi Olalere (Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance), Hon. Obi Aguoda (Member, House of Representatives), Dr. Shuaib Belgore (Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development), Femi Mohammed Sheidu (Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund), as well as serving and retired senior police officers.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the officers and encouraged them to adopt modern, innovative policing strategies that build public trust, ensure accountability, and promote stronger collaboration with the communities they serve.
He emphasized the need for professionalism and respect for human rights, stating that the police leadership remains committed to reforms that prioritize the welfare and effectiveness of the Nigerian Police Force.
