KADUNA POLICE RESTRICT MOVEMENT FOR AUGUST 16 BYE-ELECTIONS

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in areas scheduled to host state and National Assembly bye-elections on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
In a statement on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the restriction will begin at 12am on election day in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru Local Government Areas.

Hassan explained that the measure is part of security arrangements aimed at ensuring public safety, preventing breaches of peace, and guaranteeing a smooth and orderly electoral process.
He noted that only personnel on essential duties and individuals with valid election assignments will be exempted from the movement ban.
The Command urged residents to remain peaceful, comply with the directive, and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
The bye-elections will be held in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Zaria Kewaye State Constituency, and Basawa State Constituency.
