The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Warri Zone, has revealed an unlawful baby manufacturing facility masquerading as a medical institution along Orhuwhorun Road in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Confirming the development, Chairman of the NMA Warri Zone, Dr. Djebah Bright, said the discovery was made during the association’s routine monitoring exercise to clamp down on medical quackery and unregistered facilities.

As per his account, four infants were discovered within the establishment, which was managed by inadequately trained individuals.

“We were conducting our routine monthly oversight in our district for fraudulent medical practitioners and unregistered healthcare facilities when we uncovered this situation,” Dr. Bright elaborated.

He stated that the association promptly notified law enforcement, resulting in the apprehension of the facility’s operator and an auxiliary nurse who was attending to the infants.

“The proprietor of the illicit health establishment was detained along with one of her assistant nurses,” he confirmed.

The NMA chairman further indicated that the infants have since been relocated to an orphanage in Asaba by the authorities for appropriate care.

“The infants are now residing at an undisclosed orphanage in Asaba,” he remarked.

Dr. Bright reaffirmed the association’s dedication to protecting public health by exposing fraudulent practices and dismantling counterfeit medical establishments in the area.
