NAHCON OPENS 2026 HAJJ LICENSE APPLICATIONS FOR TRAVEL AGENCIES, SETS SEPTEMBER 15 DEADLINE

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially opened applications for travel agencies seeking licensing and slot allocations for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with a deadline of September 15, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Commission invited all duly registered travel agencies to apply, stressing that only companies that meet its corporate, regulatory, and financial standards will be considered.
Applicants must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), hold valid International Air Transport Association (IATA) approval, employ accredited staff, and demonstrate a proven record in Umrah or Hajj services. A minimum share capital of ₦30 million, a standard corporate office, and at least four years of licensed Umrah operations (or one Hajj license for existing firms) are also required.
NAHCON warned that companies with outstanding debts, unresolved complaints, or records of criminal convictions in Nigeria or Saudi Arabia will be disqualified. Agencies must also present detailed Hajj packages, evidence of confirmed flight and accommodation arrangements, and pay a mandatory ₦1 million licensing fee.
The Commission reiterated Saudi Arabia’s strict stance on visa violations, reminding stakeholders that pilgrims found performing Hajj without the proper visa risk a fine of 20,000 Riyals (₦8.15m) and imprisonment. It further cautioned agencies against altering transportation or accommodation without pilgrims’ consent, noting that violators would face sanctions.
NAHCON emphasized that the allocation of slots will depend on availability and past performance, while reminding applicants of the January 4, 2026 deadline for securing Masha’ir Camp bookings in Saudi Arabia.
