TINUBU APPOINTS BUNKURE AS VC OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, ZARIA

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Prof. Yahaya Bunkure as the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State.
The appointment was announced in a statement on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Bunkure, a renowned academic in science education, is currently the Vice Chancellor of Saadatu Rimi University of Education, Kano.
In the same statement, Tinubu also approved the appointment of Engineer Abdurrazaq Nakore as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano. Additionally, Prof. Abdullahi Kodage was named Vice Chancellor of the Kano institution.
Nakore, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Rural Electricity Board in Jigawa State.
The two universities Federal University of Education, Zaria, and Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano were upgraded from colleges of education between 2022 and 2023.
According to the statement, Pro-Chancellors are expected to serve a term of four years, while Vice Chancellors will serve for five years, in line with the institutions’ governing laws.
