LAGOS POLICE BEGIN FULL ENFORCEMENT OF TINTED GLASS PERMITS
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it will commence full enforcement of laws regulating tinted glass on vehicles from October 2, 2025.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the exercise aligns with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and is aimed at enhancing public safety, curbing criminal activities, and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
Vehicle owners who have yet to register were advised to obtain the approved Tinted Glass Permit via [www.possap.gov.ng](http://www.possap.gov.ng). Those unwilling to do so were urged to remove their tints or replace them with transparent factory-fitted glasses in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004. Offenders risk having their vehicles impounded and facing prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, directed field operatives to conduct the enforcement exercise with professionalism and warned that any officer found guilty of harassment or extortion would face disciplinary action, while their supervising officers would also be held accountable.
He stressed that the operation was not meant to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to guarantee the safety of all Lagos residents.
The Command also released multiple hotlines and social media platforms for residents to report unprofessional conduct during the enforcement exercise.
