The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to act decisively against insecurity in Nigeria by giving security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorist groups or face dismissal.

Adeboye made the call while reacting to concerns recently raised by former U.S. President Donald Trump following the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, themed “The Eve of Glory.”

He described the growing insecurity across the country as a national emergency and urged the Federal Government to treat it with utmost urgency, stressing that every human life is sacred.

“In my usual quiet way, I have related with all the presidents who were around when this trouble started. Whatever I discussed with them privately, I did my best behind the scenes. But you can only advise the Commander-in-Chief you can’t command him,” Adeboye said.

He advised President Tinubu to move “fast, diplomatically, and wisely” to persuade the U.S. to delay any planned action against Nigeria for 100 days while directing the nation’s security chiefs to eradicate terrorists within 90 days.

Adeboye recalled giving similar counsel to former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that although initial progress was made, the efforts were not sustained.

“There was a president unfortunately, he’s dead now Buhari, who issued such an order. He is not here to tell you who gave him that advice. He acted on it but didn’t follow through. Three months passed and the work was not done,” he revealed.

The cleric also urged the government to identify and prosecute the sponsors of terrorism, regardless of their political or financial influence.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs, the President should make it clear that they must not only eliminate the terrorists but also their sponsors, no matter how powerful they are,” he added.

Adeboye further warned that Nigeria could face dire consequences if foreign powers intervene militarily. “If America attacks us, China, Russia, and other world powers will condemn it strongly, but that’s all they’ll do. Britain won’t come to help us. No foreign power will,” he cautioned.

He appealed to President Tinubu to engage diplomatically with Washington to secure a 100-day grace period, saying it should be used to achieve lasting peace and stability.

“This is not the time for jokes, grammar, or arguments. It’s not about Christians or Muslims innocent people are dying,” Adeboye warned.

Meanwhile, human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has condemned what he described as the government’s continued downplaying of widespread killings in parts of the country.

Speaking on Friday, Farotimi criticised official narratives that label the violence as “farmer-herder clashes,” calling it an attempt to mask what he described as genocide.

“You are calling genocide farmers-herders clash what nonsense,” he said. “How can a farmer who owns nothing be clashing with somebody carrying a Kalashnikov and M-16 rifles? You even find government persons peddling that idiocy.”

Farotimi accused authorities of turning a blind eye to the atrocities while concealing the truth under misleading descriptions.
