Barau FC player ‘stabbed in the neck’ during NPFL game
Barau FC says Nana Abraham, the club’s player, was stabbed in the neck by a pitch invader during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
In a chat with journalists, Ahmad Gwale, the club’s director of media operations, said the attack happened during Barau FC’s 1-1 draw away at Katsina United on Saturday.
He said the incident happened shortly after Barau FC equalised in the 69th minute.
Gwale said “one person from the Katsina United bench or one of their fans” invaded the pitch and struck Abraham on the neck.
The match was temporarily halted after the attack, but resumed shortly with the assaulted player substituted.
