IKEJA LG CHAIRMAN JOINS ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT FOR DRAINAGE DESILTING IN SERIKI ARO

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Tuesday participated in a drainage desilting exercise carried out at Afariogun Street, Seriki Aro area of Ikeja.

The exercise was conducted by officials of the council’s Department of Environment as part of ongoing efforts to improve environmental sanitation, enhance water flow, and prevent flooding within the community.

Speaking during the exercise, Chairman AKOD reiterated his commitment to leadership by example and hands-on governance, stressing the importance of proactive environmental management in safeguarding public health.

He noted that the desilting exercise aligns with the IKEJA Agenda, particularly the ‘E’ pillar, which focuses on environmental and health initiatives. According to him, environmental cleanliness remains a vital tool for disease prevention, flood control, and the overall well-being of residents.

The Chairman assured residents that the Ikeja Local Government would continue to prioritise environmental interventions aimed at improving safety, health, and quality of life across the council area.
