England and Bukayo Saka, the winger for Arsenal, has signed a new five-year contract with the club, securing his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2031.

According to BBC Sport on Tuesday, the deal makes Saka the club’s highest-paid player, with weekly wages exceeding £300,000.

The 24-year-old’s previous contract, signed in 2023, was set to expire in 2027, but the new agreement ensures that Saka will remain with the Gunners throughout his peak playing years.

Contract negotiations had been ongoing for nearly a year, with Saka giving a verbal commitment to the club in January.

Saka’s contract extension is a significant boost for Mikel Arteta as Arsenal competes on four fronts in pursuit of their first major trophy since 2020.

The Gunners currently lead the Premier League by four points and are set to face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final in March. They have also advanced to the knockout stages of the Champions League and reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.

This season, Saka has scored seven goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, remaining a key figure in Arsenal’s title challenge. His new deal follows a summer of long-term renewals for the club, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly all committing their futures to the Gunners.

Arsenal’s approach of securing long-term contracts for key players underscores the club’s ambition to maintain a core squad capable of competing both domestically and in European competitions in the years ahead.
