NAHCON MOVES TO IMPROVE PILGRIMS’ SERVICES AFTER 2025 HAJJ CHALLENGES

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has reiterated its commitment to improving the delivery of services to Nigerian pilgrims by strengthening coordination with its service provider ahead of future Hajj operations.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Ismail Abba, made the pledge during a strategic meeting in Abuja with officials of Mashariq Aldhahabiya, led by its Board Chairman, Mohammed Andangiri.
Mashariq Aldhahabiya is the Saudi-based firm responsible for overseeing services provided to Nigerian pilgrims under the government quota in the Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement issued by the commission on Friday, Abba said lessons had been learned from the challenges experienced during the 2025 Hajj exercise, particularly issues related to data mismatches between flight manifests, contract numbers and accommodation allocations, which disrupted the smooth processing of pilgrims.
Both parties agreed to prioritise strict visa processing timelines, accurate data uploads and verification of accommodation contracts before pilgrims depart for the holy land.
NAHCON also disclosed plans to intensify compliance checks at departure centres to ensure that flight manifests and building allocations correspond with approved records.
In addition, the commission and its service provider agreed to establish a joint Situation Room to provide real-time operational updates and promptly address emerging issues during the pilgrimage.
The meeting, NAHCON noted, forms part of its broader strategy to ensure a more efficient and seamless Hajj operation for Nigerian pilgrims in subsequent exercises.
