FALLEN SOLDIERS FROM BORNO OPERATIONS LAID TO REST BY ARMY

The Nigerian Army has laid to rest soldiers who were killed in action during ongoing counter-insurgency operations in Borno State. The burial took place on Friday at the Maimalari Military Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri.
Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.
During the ceremony, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described the occasion as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation’s armed forces.
“In the profession of arms, there are moments of triumph that instill pride, but there are also solemn moments that weigh heavily on our hearts, reminding us of the true cost of service,” Abubakar said.

He praised the fallen soldiers for their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment, noting that their loss is felt not only by their families but also by the Nigerian Army and the nation.
“They gave their lives in service to a cause greater than themselves – their nation and its people. Their bravery, loyalty, and patriotism will never be forgotten,” he added, emphasizing that the troops upheld the finest traditions of the Nigerian Army.
Abubakar further stated that the fallen soldiers endured hardships to ensure the nation’s flag continues to fly high, underlining that freedom is secured by the sacrifices of patriots willing to place duty above self. He assured that all entitlements due to the deceased would be promptly processed to support their families and extended condolences on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Representing Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Security Trust Fund, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Yabe, also expressed condolences to the Armed Forces and Operation Hadin Kai. He described the deaths as a profound loss for the nation and commended the troops for their gallantry, resilience, and dedication to safeguarding the state. He assured continued support for the families of the fallen soldiers and the military.
The burial ceremony was attended by senior military officers from the Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Division Nigerian Army, the Commander of 25 Task Force Brigade, Borno State government officials, the Chairman of Damboa Local Government Area, as well as families and next of kin of the deceased soldiers.
