ARTETA HAILS HAVERTZ COMPOSURE AFTER ARSENAL DRAW WITH BAYER LEVERKUSEN

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his team was disrupted by Bayer Leverkusen’s goal as they played out a 1-1 draw in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night.
Robert Andrich put the hosts ahead from a corner, before a late penalty from Kai Havertz secured a draw for Leverkusen, ending Arsenal’s perfect run in the competition ahead of the second leg.

Reflecting on the match, Arteta said: “The game had very different periods. We started well, but when they scored, the momentum shifted completely.
“In the second half, we had to remain emotionally composed and focused. In the end, we managed to find a way to draw the match.
“Football gives us very interesting and sometimes funny stories. I was particularly impressed by how calm Havertz was when he took the penalty.”
