Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called on political leaders who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return and contribute to the party’s rebuilding efforts.
She made the appeal while addressing party members during the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Committee in Abuja.
The lawmaker emphasized that the experience, institutional knowledge, and dedication of former members are crucial for the party’s efforts to restore its position in national politics.
Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed optimism that the event could signal a turning point for the PDP, highlighting the party’s decline in Senate representation from 37 to six seats amid leadership challenges.
“When I asked colleagues why they left, they cited internal disputes. I’m telling them: trust me, it’s not greener on the other side. You’re welcome back to PDP,” she said.
Chairman of the Convention Committee, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, described the occasion as a significant moment of truth. The former Abia State governor acknowledged past internal disputes and legal battles but noted that the appellate court’s affirmation of the National Caretaker Working Committee presents a renewed opportunity for the party.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also emphasized the need for reconciliation, urging members to move beyond divisions for the sake of party unity.
“PDP requires genuine reconciliationgrounded in truth, guided by sincerity, and upheld by mutual respect,” She said.
