Bola Tinubu on Wednesday departed Lagos for Abuja after observing the Eid al-Fitr, following his recent state visit to the United Kingdom.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft took off from the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 6:44 pm.

Tinubu had earlier returned to Nigeria from the UK in the early hours of Friday and participated in Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks.

During his stay in Lagos, the President hosted 23 state governors, including Biodun Oyebanji, as part of a series of high-level engagements. He also received a delegation from the European Union and members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council.

The statement further revealed that Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Lagos to brief the President on his recent trip to Borno State following a suicide bombing incident.

At the departure ceremony were Dapo Abiodun, former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, alongside other senior government officials and party stakeholders.

The President is expected to resume official duties in Abuja following the conclusion of his Lagos engagements.
