APC RE-ELECTS KEKEMEKE AS SOUTH-WEST ZONAL CHAIRMAN

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has re-elected Isaac Kekemeke as its South-West Zonal Chairman.

Kekemeke, alongside seven other zonal executive members, emerged through a consensus arrangement at the APC South-West Zonal Congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, disclosed that 1,398 delegates from the six South-West states—Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, and Lagos—were accredited for the exercise. He broke down the figures as Lagos (337), Ondo (245), Oyo (243), Osun (156), Ekiti (211), and Ogun (206).

Jimoh said the executives were elected unopposed and affirmed through a voice vote. Other members of the zonal executive include Alfred Aluko (Secretary), Ismail Majaro (Legal Adviser), Lateef Ibirogba (Organising Secretary), Ayobami Afolabi (Publicity Secretary), Oyetunde Adesanya (Woman Leader), Daramola Adesuyi (Youth Leader), and Dayo Ishola (Persons With Disability).

Describing the congress as historic, Jimoh commended delegates for ensuring a smooth and successful process, urging the new leadership to strengthen the party in the region.

Speaking on behalf of South-West governors, Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the conduct of the congress, describing it as a model for party organisation nationwide. He expressed confidence in the new executive’s ability to lead the party to victory in the 2027 general elections.

Sanwo-Olu also thanked party members for their patience and loyalty, stressing the importance of adhering to constitutional guidelines and internal party rules.

In his response, Kekemeke appreciated party leaders for the confidence reposed in the new exco, assuring that the team would work towards ensuring APC’s success in upcoming governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states.

The congress was attended by key party stakeholders, including Dapo Abiodun, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Biodun Oyebanji, APC governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, Lagos Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, Ondo Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, and former governors Niyi Adebayo and Olusegun Osoba, among others.

Also present were senators, members of the House of Representatives, state assembly lawmakers, and other party stakeholders from across the South-West.
