Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly set to wear protective arm gear upon his return to action following surgery for a fracture, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 27-year-old forward sustained a hand fracture after a collision with Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool FC during their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter last week.

Osimhen underwent surgery earlier this week, with his recovery expected to take approximately six weeks. Although he is likely to return toward the end of the season, he may be required to use specialized protective gear on his arm.

Turkish journalist Arda Özkurt disclosed this via Winner Galatasaray.

“If Victor Osimhen’s treatment process progresses as planned, he can wear the jersey with a special protective splint if needed,” Özkurt was quoted.

The striker already uses a protective mask for his eyes, a symbol that has followed him since his cheekbone surgery in 2021. The specialized device for his arm is designed to immobilize the forearm and wrist, supporting the bone during recovery. It helps reduce pain and prevents further injury by limiting unnecessary movement, and typically includes adjustable straps for compression and breathable padding for comfort.

According to Turkish media, the Super Eagles forward could be ready in time for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, depending on his rehabilitation progress. If his return is delayed, he may only participate in the final two league fixtures—against Antalyaspor at home and Kasımpaşa away.

Osimhen will also be hoping that Galatasaray advances to the final of the Turkish Cup, where they are currently in the quarter-finals facing Gençlerbirliği.

This season, he has netted 19 goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, contributing to Galatasaray’s four-point lead in the league. Additionally, he scored seven goals and made three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League matches before the team’s elimination.
