Senator Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, representing Kaduna North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Soba Ward in Soba Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Mustapha cited the party’s ongoing internal crises as the reason for his decision.
“The internal crisis, unending court cases, and leadership disputes at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership, active participation, and commitment as a member,” he wrote.

The senator noted that persistent conflicts have eroded the unity and direction that once defined the PDP.
Despite his departure, Mustapha expressed gratitude to party members for their support throughout his political career. “I sincerely thank all the party faithful for their support and belief in me over the years. You have been a strong pillar, and I remain deeply appreciative of the trust and encouragement I have received,” he added.
He requested that his letter be accepted as his formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Sources indicate that Senator Mustapha is expected to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following his exit from the PDP.
