ONDO TRAGEDY: TRUCK KILLS 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A tragic accident occurred in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, when a truck ran over and killed a nine-year-old girl.
The Media reports that the incident took place around Supare Junction along Supare Road on Sunday.
A community source said the victim, whose identity was initially withheld, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the fatal accident to The Media on Monday.
Jimoh added that the truck driver has been taken into custody.
He stated, “The Ondo State Police Command regrets to confirm a fatal road accident in Akungba-Akoko, which claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl, Fatima Ibrahim.”
“The victim was reportedly struck by an unregistered Mercedes-Benz tipper truck and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where a medical doctor later confirmed her death,” Jimoh said.
The truck driver has been arrested, and the vehicle recovered for inspection as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The command extends its condolences to the family of the deceased and assures the public that justice will be served,” Jimoh said.
He also urged motorists to drive cautiously and comply with traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
“Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” he added.
