FCT CP DISBURSES CHEQUES TO 79 FAMILIES OF FALLEN OFFICERS

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, Ahmed Sanusi, on Thursday, presented Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Family Welfare Support cheques to the families and next of kin of 79 police officers who died in the line of duty.

The presentation, held at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja, was part of the 2026 National Police Day activities and highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the families of fallen officers.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the initiative reflects the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to prioritise the well-being of officers while honouring the sacrifices of those who lost their lives in service.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Sanusi expressed his heartfelt condolences and assured them of the Force’s continued support, emphasising that the sacrifices of the deceased officers will never be forgotten.

On April 2, 2026, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command presented Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Family Welfare Support cheques to the families and next of kin of 79 fallen police officers at the FCT Police Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja.

While addressing the beneficiaries, the Commissioner of Police expressed his heartfelt condolences and assured them of the Force’s ongoing support, emphasizing that the sacrifices of the fallen officers will never be forgotten.

“The command reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property and calls on residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” the statement added.

The cheque presentation was part of the activities organised to mark the 2026 National Police Day, an annual event dedicated to honouring the sacrifices of police personnel and enhancing welfare support for serving officers and the families of those who died in the line of duty.

The initiative also underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to boost morale among officers and strengthen public confidence in policing.
