Suspected bandits have abducted seven members of a family along with three other residents in Unguwar Sabon-Titi, located on the Katari–Hayin Dam road in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A resident of Katari, Markus Yakubu, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred around 9:32 p.m. on Thursday.

He explained that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed a compound and took away seven family members, as well as three individuals from a nearby house.

The resident explained that the attackers carried out the operation quietly without firing shots, but began shooting after moving the victims out of the area.

“The bandits arrived in large numbers and surrounded my neighbour’s house. Some of them entered the compound and abducted members of the family. They then moved to a nearby house and took three more الأشخاص,” he said.

He added that the assailants likely avoided gunfire initially because the targeted house is located very close to the residence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Katari.

The abducted victims were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos, and Godwin Amos, along with three neighbours—Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa, and Alfred Iriyo.

“Given the proximity of the DPO’s residence, I believe they refrained from shooting to avoid drawing attention,” Yakubu noted.

Community sources confirmed that security operatives have launched a search operation in nearby forests to locate the bandits and secure the safe release of the victims.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Hassan Mansur, were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to his phone were not answered.
