Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said the state has recorded notable progress since he assumed office in 2023, highlighting improvements in security, education, infrastructure, and economic growth.

He made the remarks on Saturday evening in Kaduna during a high-level workshop for senior government officials organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations as part of Nigeria Public Relations Week, Croc City 2026. The event, themed “From Policy to Public Trust: Strategic Communication for Vision Alignment and Governance Delivery for Renewed Hope,” brought together top government functionaries, including commissioners, advisers, councillors, and permanent secretaries.

Sani noted that although Kaduna is rich in potential, it was previously weighed down by insecurity, infrastructural deficits, and weak social indicators. He, however, said the state has made significant strides and is on a path to greater achievements.

The governor emphasised that meaningful transformation requires more than incremental reforms, explaining that his administration has adopted a performance-based governance model anchored on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure accountability and measurable impact.

He outlined seven key focus areas guiding his administration: security, infrastructure, institutional strengthening, trade and investment, agriculture, human capital development, and citizen engagement, describing them as interconnected drivers of development.

On security, Sani said the government has partnered with federal security agencies to establish new operational bases in Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and parts of Southern Kaduna, while also enhancing mobility with the provision of vehicles and motorcycles. He added that a Joint Task Force has helped reduce crime in urban areas.

He further disclosed that over 20,000 hectares of previously inaccessible farmland have been reclaimed, more than 1,000 displaced persons resettled, and over 117,000 internally displaced persons supported. The state has also set up a forensic laboratory and a 24-hour emergency response system known as the Kaduna Incident Report Centre.

In education, Sani said hundreds of classrooms have been built and renovated, thousands of teachers recruited, and tens of thousands of education personnel trained, leading to a significant reduction in the number of out-of-school children.

He added that infrastructure development remains a priority, with about 150 road projects covering over 1,300 kilometres ongoing across all local government areas to improve connectivity and boost commerce.

On agriculture, the governor said investments have surged, with fertiliser distribution, crop insurance schemes, and agro-industrial processing zones aimed at transforming the sector into a value-driven industry.

He also highlighted improvements in healthcare, including the upgrade of 255 primary health centres and the establishment of specialised facilities, as well as increased investor confidence, with projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars attracted to the state since 2023.

According to Sani, these efforts signal growing confidence in Kaduna’s future and its trajectory toward sustainable development.
