Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea F.C. on Tuesday night, deepening the visitors’ poor run of form in the Premier League.

The defeat marks Chelsea’s fifth consecutive league loss without scoring, a record run reportedly not seen at the club since 1912, according to post-match statistics published on the Premier League website. It is also their longest losing streak since 1993.

Brighton asserted control early in the match and sealed the win with a late surge, underlining their dominance on the south coast.

Ferdi Kadioglu opened the scoring inside four minutes, Jack Hinshelwood doubled the lead after the break, and Danny Welbeck added a stoppage-time third to seal a comprehensive victory.

Chelsea struggled throughout, failing to register a meaningful attacking threat for long stretches and looking disjointed against a sharper, more cohesive Brighton side.

The result carries major implications in the race for Europe

Brighton leapfrog Chelsea into sixth place, strengthening their push for continental qualification, while Chelsea’s slide continues at a critical stage of the season.

For Chelsea, the numbers are stark: five consecutive league defeats, no goals scored in that run, and growing pressure as their campaign unravels.

For Brighton, it was a statement win—clinical, controlled and capped by Welbeck’s late finish that summed up the gulf between the sides on the night.

“Alejandro Garnacho went closest for us with two second-half efforts, but there was no doubt Brighton were worthy winners at the Amex Stadium on another disappointing evening for Liam Rosenior’s side,” a post-match report on the club’s website revealed this.

Punch Online reports that the Blues switch actions to FA Cup semifinals on Sunday as they take on Leeds United.
