AL-MAKURA GOING TOO FAR TO DECIDE MY SUCCESSOR – NASARAWA GOV SULE

Abdullahi Sule has accused his predecessor, Tanko Al-Makura, of overreaching by trying to dictate who succeeds him as governor.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sule said Al-Makura is entitled to support any aspirant of his choice but should not attempt to impose a successor on him.
He explained that the disagreement stems partly from zoning considerations, insisting it would be unfair for power to rotate back to a zone that has already held the governorship for 12 years.
Sule also revealed that he had briefed both former and current presidents on his preferred candidate, describing the consultations as courtesy rather than obligation.
He maintained that all relevant stakeholders, including Al-Makura, were carried along in meetings leading up to his decision, but stressed that personal preferences differ and should be respected.
