Real Madrid bounced back from their 3-2 defeat to Sevilla in midweek by thrashing Celta Vigo 6-0 in a Spanish LaLiga clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.
Zinedine Zidane made eight changes from the team that started the game against Sevilla on Wednesday night, with Nacho, Casemiro and Karim Benzema the only three players that kept their positions in the starting line-up.
Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric returned for Los Blancos, but Cristiano Ronaldo missed out for the European champions once again.
The hosts made the breakthrough in the 13th minute as Bale broke onto a fine Modric pass before finishing into the corner via the post.
Celta thought that they had levelled the scores when Jozabed Sanchez tapped home from inside the box three minutes later but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Bale got his second of the match on the half hour mark. The Welshman cut inside onto his left foot before finding the top corner with a stunning strike.
Isco added the third three minutes later as he worked some space outside the Celta box before finding the top corner with a curling effort.
Real’s fourth goal of the evening arrived eight minutes after the break with Achraf Hakimi finding the back of the net.
Zidane’s men got their fifth goal of the night 15 minutes from time when Sergi Gomez turned in a low Asensio cross past his own goalkeeper.
The home team were not done yet as Toni Kroos found the bottom corner with a smart finish nine minutes from time.
