FIVE CATHOLIC NUNS ABDUCTED BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN
Five Catholic nuns were yesterday abducted by suspected kidnappers while returning from a burial ceremony around the Railway Line near Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The nuns who are of the Order of the Missionary of Martha and Mary in Agbor, under the Issele-Uku Diocese, were riding in their private car when the gunmen ambushed them and shot at their car. Two of the nuns sustained serious injuries on the leg.
Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, said the victims were in a private vehicle when the hoodlums struck, adding that the identity of the victims were yet to be ascertained. The police chief added that his command is working to ensure the safe return of the nuns.
