Many homes have been broken, relationships have ended, girlfriends have jilted boyfriends, friendships have been severed, all due to lackadaisical attitude to the concept of gifting. Every day we live we get gifts; from the very air we breathe to the earth upon which we tread.

Gifts can be used as an expression of love, a love language for some people. According to Gary Chapman’s online quiz, it’s often a need to ponder on what to get for a partner on special occasions, but only a few people know what the best gifts are for any occasion at any particular point in time. Gifts vary from a five naira candy to a multi-million automobile or jewelry; the price of the gift is not so much the hitch but the prize of the heart receiving it, as many people regard gifts according to their worth to the giver.

Bukky is a mother of two, a protocol officer in a popular pentecostal assembly in Nigeria and a wife who believes so much in true love than falling for a thousand golden Hilux. She has been married for 13 years and resides in Lagos State with her family. Bukky is a pretty woman, cool calm collected. She holds quite an unpopular perspective when it comes to relationship

Bukky opines that of all the goodness in this world, the most priceless is FAITHFULNESS, “the best gift my man can give me is faithfulness; he does not need to buy me an airplane or the most expensive jewelry.”

Well, this perspective does not go down well with the youths of today who have been dreaming of a night at the Butte Montmartre in Paris with the one they love. ‘Why will any sensible person pick faithfulness when there are diamond rings, private jets, yachts to pick faithfulness?’ But Bukky still holds a strong view that “happiness and joy are the basic ingredients of life and what good is a gift if the heart receiving it is bleeding.”

“I have never caught my husband in any act of sexual unfaithfulness, neither am I suspecting him”. “This has been the best gift ever from him for the past 13 years of our marriage.”

However, 13 years of marriage has not been rice and beans for Bukky, as there had been several temptations and moments of weakness. She has seen the good, the bad and the ugly, so much to choose from. However, her watchword remains: “true love never hurts.”

According to her, this has kept her feet from where feet may fail. However she believes infidelity is not all about sex outside marriage, “one can be unfaithful to their spouse with time.” To this respect she confessed she has been found wanting at a particular time in her life: “I was always up and busy; when I’m not at work then I’m in the kitchen or after the kids and from there to the church for one workers meeting or a prayer vigil. At those times I was unfaithful with time”.

“True love never hurts and faithfulness is not impossible to achieve”.

To the ‘Bukkis’ of this world, a home that is filled with love and peace, and watered with faithfulness is better than one that is full of diamonds and expensive things.
