ALLEGED KIDNAPPING: DEFENSE COUNSEL’S REQUEST FOR ADJOURNMENT STALLS EVANS’ TRIAL

The trial of Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans, a convicted kidnapping kingpin indicted for several kidnapping instances, before an Ikeja Special Offences Court was adjourned on Wednesday as Chuks Muoma, the new lawyer representing him requested for a further date to enable him study the documents he given on the last date.
Evans is on trial with Joseph Emeka for allegedly attempting to kidnap Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors.
At today’s proceedings, Justice Oluwatoyin, expressed displeasure with the first defendants’ counsel for delay in trial. She added that 17th and 24th June, 2022 dates were prefixed and would not be changed.
Emmanuel Ochai, a lawyer representing Evans’ co-defendant in a sister case, told the court that he was ready to take his own defense in other not to delay the court any further.
Evans and Emeka, according to the prosecution, committed the crimes on August 27, 2013, on Third Avenue in Festac Town, Lagos.
Justice Taiwo, adjourned till 7th of June for continuation of trial.
