The Ikeja Local Government has commenced the deployment of Revenue QR Codes across business premises in Computer Village as part of efforts to automate revenue collection, improve tax compliance and eliminate revenue leakages.

The exercise, carried out on Thursday, was led by the Executive Chairman of the council, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), alongside members of the local government’s revenue team.

The initiative forms part of the council’s automated revenue administration system and involves the placement of unique QR codes on registered business premises to enhance monitoring, enforcement and accountability in revenue collection.

Speaking during the exercise, Dauda urged business owners and traders to embrace the technology-driven initiative and fulfil their civic responsibility by paying only approved taxes and levies through authorised government channels.

He said improved internally generated revenue would enable the local government to deliver more developmental projects and enhance service delivery across the council area.

According to the chairman, increased revenue generation is critical to the provision of quality infrastructure, improved environmental sanitation, enhanced security and other essential public services for residents of Ikeja.

Traders at Computer Village welcomed the initiative and pledged to cooperate with the local government to ensure compliance with the new revenue collection system.

The council said the QR code deployment is aimed at promoting a transparent, efficient and accountable revenue administration process while strengthening efforts to block revenue leakages.
