The Kwara State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on cult-related activities, following the arrest of two suspected cult members and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm in Ilorin metropolis.

The arrests were made through intelligence-led operations and sustained surveillance carried out by operatives of the Command as part of efforts to tackle cultism, violent crimes and other security threats across the state.

According to the police, one of the suspects, Abdullahi Jimoh Omotoho, 33, was arrested over alleged links to the Klans-Avea cult group operating within Ilorin metropolis. A locally fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered during the operation.

Further investigation and intelligence gathering led to the arrest of another suspect, Abdullahi Kareem Kawu, popularly known as “B-Red,” who is alleged to be associated with the Eiye Confraternity.

Police authorities said both suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators as efforts continue to dismantle criminal networks linked to cult-related activities in the state.

Preliminary findings, according to the Command, have generated useful leads on the operations of suspected criminal gangs within Ilorin, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members.

Commending the operatives involved, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, praised their professionalism, vigilance and dedication.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led policing and proactive crime-fighting strategies to ensure criminal elements have no safe haven in Kwara State.

The Commissioner also warned individuals involved in cultism and violent crimes to abandon such activities or face legal consequences, while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information.

Police authorities said the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
