Social media videos showed emergency responders pulling the baby from the debris before handing the child to a man believed to be the father.

The baby’s mother was also rescued alive from the collapsed building shortly afterwards, AFP reported.

The baby‘s mom was also saved alive from the collapsed building not long after, according to AFP.

Tom Fletcher, the United Nations’ top humanitarian official, said more than 50,000 people are still missing after two strong earthquakes hit northern Venezuela just minutes apart on Wednesday evening.

The quakes, which measured 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, occurred less than a minute apart while many Venezuelans were at home celebrating a national holiday.

The twin quakes triggered widespread destruction, reducing homes, schools and public infrastructure to rubble in several communities.

Thousands of survivors have also been displaced, with emergency shelters established for those forced to flee their homes.

Rescue efforts have continued in the affected areas as emergency workers race to locate survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings, while humanitarian agencies work to provide food, water, and medical care.
