NPFL: ENUGU RANGERS ATTACKED IN JOS AFTER MATCH WITH PLAEAU UNITED
On Sunday, following a goalless draw between the two clubs on Match Day 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League in Jos, some alleged Plateau United supporters stormed the team bus of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu.
Viral videos and images on social media revealed that several of the Flying Antelopes’ coaches and players were bleeding after being hurt in the attack.
Amobi Ezeaku, the Rangers’ general manager, acknowledged the attack in a statement and described it as unjustified. According to him, the club is doing what it needs to do to guarantee that justice is done.
Rangers has already petitioned the appropriate authorities, according to Ezeaku, and they won’t stop until the problem is fully investigated and fixed.
The statement read, “We wish to inform you about the unfortunate incident that occurred during our match against Plateau United in Jos. The attack on our team was unwarranted, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is served. A petition has been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we will not rest until this issue is thoroughly addressed and resolved.
“Under this administration, the symbol of our great Club must never be disrespected, and we will go to any length to preserve its honor and legacy. Our commitment to upholding the values and pride of Rangers is unwavering.
“We also want to assure you that our team members are safe and will be arriving in Enugu today. Your unwavering support and prayers mean the world to us during these challenging times. Thank you for standing by us as we continue to uphold the spirit of Rangers.
“Your dedication motivates us to push forward, and we remain committed to representing our great club with pride and integrity.”
