At least three nations have now been eliminated from the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The North Africans join Haiti and Türkiye as the first teams confirmed to be out of the competition.

The Carthage Eagles had already endured a difficult start, losing 5-1 to Sweden in their opening Group F fixture. Their defeat to Japan left them without a point from their first two matches, ending any hopes of progressing to the Round of 32.

With only one group game remaining and a maximum of three points still available, Tunisia can no longer qualify for the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, five-time world champions Brazil secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Haiti in Group C, sealing the Caribbean side’s exit from the tournament.

Haiti remain rooted to the bottom of the group with no points from two games and a goal difference of minus four. Their final group match against Morocco on June 24 will have no bearing on qualification.

In Group D, Türkiye’s hopes were also extinguished after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.

The result left the Turkish side with back-to-back losses and zero points from two matches, confirming their elimination despite having one group fixture left to play.
