TURKEY STANDS FIRMLY AGAINST THE USE OF MILITARY FORCE AGAINST IRAN

On Thursday, Turkey stated its opposition to any military action against Iran, following repeated comments by US President Donald Trump about intervening in support of the Iranian people amid the government’s crackdown on protests.
“We oppose a military operation against Iran. We believe Iran’s real issues should be resolved internally,” Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told reporters in Istanbul.
Fidan added that Iran’s economic grievances had often been “misinterpreted as an uprising against” the Islamic Republic.
The protests, which rights groups say have left at least 3,428 people dead, have drawn thousands onto the streets across Iran, challenging a government with little tolerance for dissent. The country was already grappling with an economic crisis caused by years of sanctions and recovering from the June war with Israel.

Fidan emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing the crisis.
“We want problems to be solved through dialogue,” he said. “Hopefully, the United States and Iran will resolve this matter themselves — whether via mediators, other actors, or direct negotiations. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
