Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the operation, Captain Polycarp Oteh, who said the suspects were apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by troops of Sector 6 at the Trade Center axis of Kuru.
According to Oteh, operatives initially arrested one of the suspects, identified simply as Aboi. Following sustained interrogation, the suspect reportedly led security personnel to the second suspect.
He said both suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation to assist security agencies in tracking down and apprehending other members of the criminal group who remain at large.
“The suspects are being exploited for further intelligence that could lead to the arrest of other members of the group involved in the attack,” the statement read.
The arrests come in the wake of a series of attacks on the NIPSS facility, which claimed the lives of about four people, including security personnel.
The most recent attack occurred on July 2, but troops successfully repelled the assailants, killing one of the attackers while others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.
During the operation, soldiers also recovered a service rifle bearing registration number CO-3175. Investigations later revealed that the weapon had been stolen from a soldier killed during an earlier attack on the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, on April 11, 2026.
