The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society (ADS) in Osun State has reiterated its non-partisan stance while hosting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The assurance was given during a meeting between the society’s leadership and the APC flagbearer in Osogbo on Sunday, where discussions centred on peaceful participation in the electoral process before, during and after the poll.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society in Osun State, Hafiz Akande, stressed that the organisation remains politically neutral, even though it encourages members who aspire to hold public office.

“Let me state clearly that as a corporate body, ADS remains non-partisan,” Akande said.

“However, the Society will never rebuke, sideline or abandon our members who show genuine interest in governance. We recognise the importance of supporting those who aspire to positions of leadership.

“We firmly believe that leadership is a sacred trust (Amanah) from Allah, and no one attains it except by His divine permission. It is therefore a worthy aspiration for our members to seek public office with sincerity and competence for the benefit of society.”

In his remarks, Oyebamiji urged eligible voters to resist vote-buying and safeguard the integrity of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

He described the PVC as a constitutional tool that empowers citizens to choose their leaders and called on residents to use it responsibly during the election.

“The PVC is an instrument that gives every eligible citizen the right to determine who governs them for a specified period.

“I appeal to our people not to commercialise their PVCs but to use them wisely by voting for candidates with the competence and capacity to provide effective leadership,” Oyebamiji said.
