RIVERS YOUTHS BARRICADE REFINERY ROAD OVER COLLAPSED BRIDGE
Youths of Eleme Community in Rivers State have barricaded traffic along the Eleme refinery road, following the collapse of a bridge on that route.
As a result, commuters and passengers traveling to Calabar in Cross River State, Uyo, Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State, Onne, Okrika in River State have been left stranded.
The protesting youths say they have blocked the road to draw government’s attention to the bridge popularly known as Okulu Aleto in Akpajo on the east west road in Eleme Local Government Area.
A part of the bridge caved in on Thursday, but no casualties have been reported on the route that serves as an access link through Port Harcourt to Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
This is the Bridge that leads to the Refinery, Onne Port, Indorama petrochemicals, FOT and FLT, Naval college, all in Rivers state.
