By Adeniyi Onaara
On Tuesday night, at least seven All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidates stood down in favor of the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Godswill Akpabio, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, was the first to call it quits.
Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State, and Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State, both resigned in support of Tinubu.
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole, Jigawa Governor Muhammad Badaru, and Senator Ajayi Boroffice of Ondo North withdrew from the presidential race and endorsed Tinubu.
Uju Ohanenye, the sole female APC presidential candidate, endorsed Tinubu as well.
Meanwhile, unlike many thought, Vice President Osinbajo did not withdraw from the contest.
