The four kidnap for ransom kingpins who were detained by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigerian Police Force for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and kidnapping have admitted to the murders of Hon. Musa Mante of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and a retired Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Garkuwa.

The suspects claimed that they killed the retired police officer because he had made their lives difficult and miserable by constantly looking for them, but they also claimed that they killed the lawyer and abducted his wife and children because he had refused to give them money despite their repeated requests.

Abdulwahab Alhassan alias Kan Wuka, Abdulwahab Alhassan alias Emeka, Abdulwahab Ahmed alias Dan Mama, and Hamidu Saleh are the main suspects in the syndicate’s crimes.

They are kidnappers who were detained by IRT agents after Dass LGA residents in Bauchi State filed intelligence reports detailing kidnappings, armed robberies, and criminal conspiracies against them.

The suspects were captured by the police after a carefully planned operation by the DCP Tunji Disu-led intelligence police team, and they confessed to their individual involvement and roles in all of the kidnappings and armed robberies that took place in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna villages and market roads on Mondays.

Additionally, they admitted to breaking into the home of Suleiman Shuaibu, alias Shayi, a resident of Dass Local Council in Bauchi State, at around 01.15 in the morning, and kidnapping six members of the man’s family.

Hamishu, the main suspect, said that his gang killed the divisional police officer because he had a tendency to look for them whenever a crime incidence was recorded.

Regarding the murder of the lawmaker, he claimed that the criminal gang killed the man because he refused to provide them with money, despite numerous pleas from his gang members and despite the fact that he always helped others.

He stated: “We assassinated Hon. Musa Mante, an honorable member of the House of Assembly, inside his room, and grabbed physical cash worth two million naira” (N2,000000).

And we abducted his two wives and transported them to Dutsin Miagoshi Igala, where the victims were held captive for over four days until we demanded a ransom of 35,000,000 naira (N35,000,000,000).

He said that he was the one protecting the deceased man’s gate when other gang members broke into the house through the roof and stole his money before killing the congressman.

The second suspect, Abdulwahab alias Emeka, admitted to working with the gang leader in a number of kidnapping instances. He also said that he had previously dealt in heavy drugs and had interacted with and knew all of the criminals terrorizing the communities in Bauchi.

However, he claimed that he simply gave them the information required for the lawmaker’s detention and did not follow the crime suspects to their residence.

He stated that he was an ex-convict who had been detained twice for two years each for drug offenses by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before serving his sentences and being freed.

The suspects all admitted under further questioning by the IRT media team that they had argued with the deceased MP about what was allegedly imbalanced constituency projects, and when he was unable to give them a satisfactory response, they shot him.

They added that they banded together against the retired policeman because of his promise to keep going after and dealing with local criminals for the protection and security of the residents.

They admitted operating with one AK-47 assault rifle and a variety of ammunitions on the exhibits found by the police squad.
