The coroner inquest that is looking into the cause of death of 27-year-old singer IleriOluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as MohBad, has ordered AbdulAzeez Fashola (Naira Marley), Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry), and Owodunni Ibrahim (Prime Boy) to appear before it during the next inquest.

At the resumption of the coroner on Friday, Magistrate Sotobi Adedayo of the Candide Johnson Courthouse in Ikorodu, Lagos State, instructed the police to produce the music stars on the next adjourned date, October 25, 2023, to unravel the cause of the singer’s death.

She also called for cooperation in the investigation for speedy and fast justice delivery on the death of the singer, while advising that interested parties shouldn’t encourage delay in order for MohBad’s remains to be finally laid to rest.

Meanwhile, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Muhammad Yusuf, an Investigating Police Officer attached to the homicide section of the States Criminal Investigating Department (SCID), Panti, while narrating the police’s findings to the coroner, said that in the cause of their investigation, there was no evidence beyond reasonable doubt that Naira Marley assaulted Mohbad, nor was there any evidence that Sam Larry and Naira Marley are linked with Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who administered the injection doses to the deceased.

Recall that the Afrobeat singer died on September 12 after a nurse administered some doses of injections to him. The nurse has since been arrested for a thorough investigation.

The injections, consisting of tetanus toxoid, paracetamol, and ceftriaxone injection (IV) which was administered on him at his residence was reported to have triggered an immediate reaction that eventually led the death of Mohbad,

Muhammad also informed the coroner that the autopsy and toxicology results to determine the actual cause of MohBad’s death are yet to be concluded.

Following the exhumation of Mohbad’s body on September 21, 2023, an autopsy was conducted to determine his death.

After taking submissions from the interested parties, the coroner adjourned till October 25th for continuation of the hearing.

However, Mrs. Funmilayo Falana, the counsel representing the deceased’s family, said, while speaking to the press, that during the inquest, the interested parties were able to narrow down some of the issues on how far the police investigation has gone.

She said, “Today, we were able to narrow down some of the issues on how far the police investigation has been able to get. We were able to put down at least certain names of respondents who will receive summonses before the end of the week.”

“Hopefully, we will bring those ones to come and give evidence, but, of course, the witness and family members will be in court on the next adjourned date. We may also have other names as the evidence begins to unfold,” she added.
