LAGOS POLICE PARADES MANUFACTURER OF LOCALLY MADE FIREARMS, ELECTRICITY CABLE MANUFACTURER, IMPERSONATOR, OTHERS

The Lagos Police Command, has paraded a total number of 32 suspects who have been engaged in the manufacturing of locally made firearms, fake electricity cable wire manufacturer, cultists amongst others.

While addressing the press on Tuesday, the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that 25 firearms including a Toy gun, 12 long pipes, Drilling Machine, Gas Cylinder, dagger, Brain boxes, side mirrors, 241 adulterated wires,10 expended live cartridges and some live ammunition was recovered from this suspects.

Hundeyin, mentioned that in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state, operatives of the Command have been able to arrest a manufacturer of locally made firearms, adding that the suspects Musiliu Gbenga (21) and Owolabi Azeez (22) were apprehended on 11 September, 2023 at about 1400hrs, while recovering some tools used in manufacturing the firearms from them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, also mentioned that the police arrested one 27-year-old Ogbonna Eze, who has been disguising as a dispatch rider, just to vandalize vehicles, while removing their brain boxes and side mirrors.

He noted that the suspect will be prosecuted as soon as the investigation is completed.

He added that, “Operatives of the Command have arrested a total of 4 cultism suspects in the Ikorodu area of the state. Investigation have revealed that they are part of the people who have been tormenting the area.”

“One of them is actually the second in command of his own cult group.”

“Somewhere in Ajah, we arrested a one-chance robbery gang and they are known to work around in late hours of the night to pick lone passengers, who will eventually be robbed. Recovered from this gang, were locally made pistol, one toy pistol, one cartridge, one dagger, one axe.”

“In the Surulere area of Lagos, some young men in military uniform again invaded a park belonging to a Transportation Company, and Vandalized some of the vehicles. Our men swung into action as expected of them. And when they got to the bus park, they arrested one Kelechi Ofon.”

“Another interesting case here, a very reputable electricity cable manufacturing company, wrote a petition to us complaining about how people produce fake electrical wire by using their trade marks to sell them and giving the company a bad reputation. We swung into action and we were able to arrest some suspects at the Alaba International market.”

“Residents and people living around Church Avenue, Ikosi-Ketu reached out to us complaining about some sporadic shooting by some suspected cultist in the area. The Police swung into action and arrested some of them. We carried out some Investigation and we were able to establish that they are indeed into cultism and will be arraigned.

He also added that the command received a directive from the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, that all commands within the country should immediately swing into actions by retrieving all firearms and ammunition illegally possessed by any individual.

He said, for this reason, the police are renewing their determination to recover all arms and ammunition like was displayed during the parade.

“Beyond all of these, IGP has declared that those who have illegal possession of firearms should come forward and submit it without getting arrested or prosecuted.”

“While this is ongoing, we assure Lagosians that we will continue to do our best to ensure that we rid the society of any forms of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in our society,” he concluded.
