YEMI KOLAPO INSTALLED AS IYALODE MUSULUMI OF EGBALAND
The managing director of The Point Newspaper and the recently appointed Iyalode of the Egba Community Muslims, Oyeyemi Kolapo, has been commended by the governors of Ogun and Kogi states, Dapo Abiodun and Yahaya Bello, respectively.
On Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Central Mosque in Kobiti, Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the installation ceremony, the governors gave her their congratulations.
The governors said that Kolapo’s installation as the Egba Muslims’ Iyalode was a well-earned honor and evidence of her life of service as a pious and morally upright Muslim.
Speaking during the occasion, Abiodun, who was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, observed that the Egba Muslim community will benefit from the Iyalode’s unique contributions and unflinching commitment to service. He conveyed his belief that her extensive background will enable her to perform her responsibilities effectively.
He said, “As the brand new Iyalode of Egba Muslims, I am confident that your wealth of experience and personal attributes including courage, philanthropy, tenacity and focus will undoubtedly equip you to discharge the duties of this new role.
“The Egba community are sure to benefit from your invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to service on this higher pedestal.”
Also speaking at the ceremony, Governor Bello, who was represented by Senator Abubakar Ohere, opined that Kolapo’s installation demonstrated that Egbaland had not strayed from its long-standing tradition of honoring excellence and brilliance. adding that the new Iyalode had done a fantastic job of embodying the Egba spirit in every role that she had held.
