….Set to complete 400-Metre Road In Six Months

The construction of Ijake Road in Oto-Awori LCDA, Ojo, Lagos State, has begun, according to Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Rural Development. This announcement is part of the state government’s efforts to enhance road networks in rural communities, shorten travel times, and facilitate easy mobility for residents and vehicles.

The Special Adviser revealed this at the 400-metre Ijake Road, Oto Awori LCDA, construction flag-off ceremony and during a stakeholders’ meeting, assuring that the project would be finished in six months from the start and that work would start in February.

He restated that the project is a component of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to implement his administration’s T.HE.M.E.S. Plus Agenda, which aims to transform Lagos State into a 21st-century economy by lowering rural-urban migration and spreading the benefits of democracy to the State’s grassroots communities.

In order to guarantee the workers’ safety, Dr. Agbaje asked community members to make sure they work with the contractor. He counseled them to exercise prudent protection and guardianship over the projects in order to assume ownership of them after they are finished.

The Special Adviser further mentioned that the contractor has committed to hiring youths from the area who are qualified and eager to serve as skilled or unskilled laborers.

He gave the residents of the community assurance that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration will oversee numerous developmental initiatives, including the road project.

Earlier in her welcome speech, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, praised Mr. Governor for his ongoing efforts to make sure that the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda is felt throughout Lagos State, particularly in the rural communities.

She congratulated the community on the governor’s approval of the Ijake Road Project and urged them to collaborate with the contractor to ensure a calm workplace that would result in the project being completed on schedule.

Furthermore, Prince Musibau Adekunle Ashafa, the Chairman of the Oto-Awori LCDA, commended Mr. Governor for keeping Oto-Awori in mind while implementing his T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda.

Similarly, the Oloto of Ato-Awori, His Royal Majesty Alaiyeluwa Oba Ikuyamiku Ilemobade Aina, praised Mr. Governor for making sure that the benefits of democracy reach the local level. In addition, he urged the government to support the community’s other development initiatives, such as providing potable water and electricity to remote areas.

In his capacity as the CDA Chairman, Mr. Olusegun Bello gave the Governor the assurance that the community will express its gratitude by making sure the project is well guarded after it is put into service.

The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert, as well as representatives from community development associations, religious bodies, market leaders, community leaders, and youth leaders were also present at the stakeholders’ meeting.
