LASPGA DISSOLUTION: RTEAN APPOINTS ONIBA EKUN AS CHAIRMAN CARETAKER COMMITTEE

A major step towards settling internal disagreements has been taken by the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, which established a two-week caretaker committee to oversee union activities until election committees are sworn in.
This action comes after a protracted period of unrest that prompted the Lagos State government to step in and establish the Lagos State Parks and Garages administrators, as well as dissolve the committees that had previously overseen parks and garages.
The recently appointed State Branch Committee Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, Oba Suliamon Raji Adeshina, Oniba of the Iba kingdom, has reassured the union’s members of his commitment to peace and the settlement of outstanding problems.
In the face of these difficulties, the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria national body intervened to reorganise committees in the Lagos State branch in an effort to bring harmony and order back in time for the elections.
HRM Oba Raji stressed the value of unity in his speech to the membership and promised to do everything in his power to promote harmony within the organisation. Additionally, he thanked the national organisation for its committed efforts to further the union’s stability and advancement.
“I will do all that is required by the national body and follow the constitution of our union. All members that gets to his park and his occupied should get back to me, so that we can resolve issues with one another, the union is a big umbrella and we protect our union” he said.
The Trade Union Congress Secretary was present at the most recent reconciliation meeting, when he urged union members in Lagos to work towards reconciliation and return the organisation to a harmonious state.
Members who were offended were urged to work with the established authorities to restore the union’s functionality and integrity.
In order to enable a seamless transition and guarantee the efficient governance of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, plans are in motion to establish an election committee, with a deadline of two weeks for the resolution of the constituted committees.
For the benefit of all members, this proactive approach shows a dedication to resolving internal problems and promoting a renewed sense of unity and purpose inside the organisation.
